The Summer Reading Program runs from June 1 - August 1 at Jacksonville Public libraries. Reading programs bolster skills and are free, convenient and fun. While kids think they are having a great time, educators know that informal reading increases children's reading skills. Studies abound that show the direct relationship between reading and academic gains.

The 2009 Summer Reading Program will feature the themes "Be Creative @ Your Library" for younger children and "Express Yourself @ Your Library" for teens. Participants will explore the worlds of music, dance, art, books and more.

Thank you to J. Wayne & Delores Barr Weaver for their generous support of our summer reading programs.
