The Summer Reading Program runs from June 1 - August 20 at Jacksonville Public Library. Reading programs bolster skills and are free, convenient and fun. While kids think they are having a great time, educators know that informal reading increases children's reading skills. Studies abound that show the direct relationship between reading and academic gains.
The 2011 Summer Reading Program will feature the themes "One World, Many Stories" for younger children and "You Are Here" for teens. Participants will explore the worlds of music, dance, art, books and more.
Thank you to J. Wayne & Delores Barr Weaver for their generous support of our summer reading programs.
Library Night at the Suns, Sunday, August 7, 2011, game starts at 6:05 P.M. Children get in for free by showing their Jacksonville Public Library Card. Boys and Girls run the bases after the game with Southpaw. Enter the bicycle drawings for either a girls or a boys bicycle to be given away during the game. Child MUST be PRESENT to WIN the bicycle.
