Throughout its entire 2008-2009 season, the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra hopes to bring more of the public downtown for the First Wednesday Art Walk to appreciate the arts and talent the city has to offer. On Wednesday October 1st at 7:00 p.m., the JSO presents a musical preview of its opening pops concert, In the Key of G – Gershwin and Goodman, which takes place on October 3 and 4.

Jacksonville’s very own Scott Watkins will have the audience swinging to the ever-popular Rhapsody in Blue, as he performs solo piano excerpts, along with a video presentation. The event also features the music of Benny Goodman, as virtuoso jazz artist Ken Peplowski performs solo clarinet. In addition, JSO Principal Oboist Eric Olson will preview an oboe concerto by composer David Mullikin, which he will perform with the JSO on October 10. The concert previews will take place in the Hicks Auditorium of the Main Library.
